Pooka's Breeder - Jerry Hughes

We were very fortunate to become acquainted with Jerry and Laurel Hughes. They are dedicated, hard working people that have become good friends of ours. They have always been there for us and we can talk to them about any issues related to our dogs. Pooka was one of five males in a litter of six. Four of those six puppies became AKC Champions.

Jerry and Laurel live a short drive north of Pittsburgh, PA. Here is a link to their Windy Knob Kennel web site:

Pooka is the first Bernese Mountain Dog we have owned and we feel we should give a few thank you's to some people who helped us get into the breed.
We thank Carolyn Kinley very much for getting us in touch with Pooka's breeder, Jerry Hughes. Carolyn is a long time breeder under the kennel name of Shersan Bernese Mountain Dogs. One of Carolyn's dogs in Pooks's pedigree was Ch. Shersan's Chang o Pace who was a Best of Breed winner at Westminster.

Candy and Wally Konicki were the owners of Pooks's sire, Am. Can. Ch Shersan's Life in the Fast Lane (Cruiser). Candy is an excellent handler (that's her with Pooka in the photo) and helped us a lot with conformation showing. Candy and Wally also breed Bernese Mountain Dogs under the kennel name Little Mountain. Here is a link to their web site:

Bobbie Kinley-Blewett also helped us a lot with conformation showing. In the photo to the left she is showing Pooka's dam, Chance, to the last points she needed for her championship.
